Notre Dame High School
A youthful Mary in a field of sunflowers and stars welcomes young women students at Notre Dame High School. Sunflowers in the 9’ x 27’ stained glass wall point to the agricultural industry of Salinas, California. They also are a symbollic metaphor for Sister Julie Billiart, founder of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, who loved sunflowers because of their quality of turning ‘to the Light”.
